Team bronze and mixed feelings in Gothenburg

August 13th 2006 - Kamiel has not been able to bring home from the European Championships what he had hoped for; an individual medal on the 42.195 meters long classic race. On a quite tricky course he had to let the leaders go after 3 of 4 laps through the Swedish city. Kamiel finished 9th in 2.13.46. But soon he heard the good news, when it was announced that the team had won a bronze medal. With the times of Luc Krotwaar (4th in 2.12.44) and Sander Schutgens (19th in 2.17.11) added to Kamiel's finishing time, the Dutch team, which also included Hugo van den Broek who came in 22nd, finished third behind Italy and Portugal. And so in the end all four marathoners stood on the victory stand in the Ullevi stadium.
