Kamiel wins tropical 1/4 marathon in Rotterdam

June 19th 2005 - While many were heading for the beach, 1250 athletes started in Rotterdam for the Fortis 1/4 marathon. They had to cross both the Erasmusbrug and Willemsbrug three times. In the last of 3 laps Kamiel Maase pulled away from the four other athletes in the leading group to finish 1st in 31.48. Kenyan Edwin Yano finished 2nd and Rachid Ghanmouni from Morocco was 3rd. Kamiel's next 'test race' on his way to the Helsinki marathon (world championships) will be the 10 K race in Voorthuizen on July 20th.
