Kamiel back in business: 5th in ItalyFebruary 7th 2005 - Almost half a year after his last race, the Olympic 10.000 meter final in Athens, Kamiel ran the European Cup Cross in Mantova, Italy. On a very fast course, the leading group, consisting of many of the best South European international athletes, was quite big. Zersenay Tadesse, Eritrean runner for Adidas Madrid who won bronze in Athens, managed to break away from the group. In the last of 10 kms Kamiel moved up in the group to finish 5th, only one second behind 3rd Roberto Garcia, also from Spain. Kamiel was clearly relieved to be back at this high level after struggling with a number of injuries affecting his lower legs. Next goals are the Dutch 10 K road championships next Sunday in Schoorl and the national cross country championships two weeks later.
