Disappointing race in Athens

August 20th 2004 - The competition was tough, but that was no excuse for a race that didn't turn out the way Kamiel was aiming for. "I felt strong and was able to run smoothly during the first kilometers" Kamiel said, "but after a few faster laps I didn't have the power I needed to really participate in this race". So, despite several training camps, heat-adaptation and pre-cooling methods, Kamiel was not able to run at the level he has shown at previous tournaments and qualified his performance as "disappointing". After long months of preparation, Kamiel will now take a few days off while residing in the Olympic Village. Saturday night he will be in the stadium to cheer for his colleagues participating in the 3.000 m steeple chase and other events.

Results will follow soon.
