Another good ten mile raceSeptember 23rd 2007 - In a very strong field, Kamiel finished 5th in the classic Dam tot Damloop. On the difficult, winding course, the group of elite runners started off at an easy pace for about two kilometers. Then, the group picked up the pace, led by multiple World Champion Zersenay Tadesse from Eritrea.
A few kilometers later, Tadesse pulled away, followed by Kipyego from Kenya. Kamiel was in the next small group, from which he pulled away at about 8 or 9 k, trying to catch number 3 and 4, Rotich and Langat. While he managed to run away from the guys in his group, Kamiel was not able to catch the Kenyans running in 3rd and 4th place. He did consolidate his 5th place during the next 8 k and finished in 47:11.
Kamiel remarked he was very satisfied about today's race after a few weeks of serious training in preparation of the ING Amsterdam Marathon on October 21st. "I was still fit when crossing the finish line. There are several important training sessions coming up and one final race, the Singelloop in Breda. And let's just hope all muscles stay healthy!"
