2nd In Dutch Champs 5.000 mJuly 1st 2007 - After an exciting race, Kamiel placed second at the 5.000 m during the Dutch Championships in Amsterdam. Not having done much speedwork, Kamiel took the lead in the first lap, trying to shake off his competitors in an early stage. After leading for about 4,950 meters, Kamiel was outsprinted by 0.12 seconds by Michel Butter, a talented young runner. 'I tried to make it a fast race, but was not able to pull away from Michel' Kamiel said about his race. 'Michel didn't lead for a single lap, but I might have done the same in his position. People expect me to take the lead and Michel had nothing to loose. He followed and out-sprinted me by about 0.1 second. Of course, I prefer to win, but life goes on' he laughed. 'My main goal for this month is the 10k at the Spanish Championships, in four weeks. I aim to do some good track sessions and one tune-up race. Hopefully I will be strong enough to qualify for Osaka.'
